Hello: Festival 10th – DEW DRIP TEMPER
Happy 10th Hello: Festival! July 25 & 26, 2025
To celebrate our anniversary, we want to melt together with music, dance, food and drink, share practices, question structures and celebrate what gives us hold! The tenth edition of the Hallo: Festspiele will take place on the warm summery asphalt of Alster-Bille-Elbe-Parks around the container of the artist collective ZOLLO.
Right next door behind the railway bridge is “Kraftwerk Bille”, the founding site of Hallo*, home to the Schaltzentrale and its countless celebrations and experiments, as well as a playground for many previous festival editions: from auditory explorations, water as social space, queer-feminist perspectives on architecture, radioplays and ‘Trauerspiele’ – the funeral of the Schaltzentrale 2022. In the course of being thrown out of Kraftwerk Bille, it was painfully realized that reliable power stations are only the communities and their gatherings. Since 2023, the festival has continued to meander through the east of Hamburg and opened a kiosk and the parasitic Hotel “Gelbklinker” on Bullerdeich.
In 2025, we will venture a little further away from walls and roofs and explore architectures that tell us about decay, transitions and becoming.
On the weekend of the festival in July, the anniversary edition uses artistic practices of dewing, dripping and tempering to create a cycle that describes various energetic stages of community and care work: DEW – DRIP – TEMPER is a recumbent figure eight teeming with energetic in-between stages – ready to fill the empty tanks with flowing and nourishing resources in form of music, workshops, healing sessions, readings, performances and more.
Sophie Allerding and Paula Erstmann open the festival with my activating, nourishing ceremony with culinary delights and whistling callings.
Sara Yaoska Herrera Dixon‘s workshop Clay Bodies, Displaced Soils invites you to explore material memory and (dis)connection from the ground through body-cast tile-making.
Violaine Le Fur‘s Healing Sessions offer space for retreat, rest and spiritual touch. Karolina Kaiser‘s practice of Social Knitting weaves a contemplative, collaborative practice that creates a cocoon in the form of an open, ongoing workshop together with Lola Bott.
In Prologue, Collapse Simone Aughterlony & Jen Rosenblit will perform an excerpt from their research on architectures of decay and transitions.
Meryem Choukri, Lalitha Chamakalayil and Susan Djahangard will read from the book Biting Back – on (post-)colonial connections between food, resistance and desire followed by a conversation with Mawuto Doutou.
Razi Uddin will show her video work Ingredients of Identity, in which lost family memories in relation to food are rediscovered and explored anew in the diaspora.
This festival edition will be accompanied by Grappling With What Is a zine about Queering Commons, written by Aska Welford, Fran Edgerley, Doro Halbrock and Luka Lenzin, which will be ceremonially published as part of the program and performed by Emol.
The musical contributions reflect the diversity of the energetic stages: Valentina Magaletti, Lionstorm, Lolina, Devon Rexi, Ojoo, Yves B. Golden, douniah, Slezga and Der Feine Schliv, Hye-Eun Kim, seminice, CHO ROOM and many more. From calm to quick-tempered and angry – all states are welcome!
By the way – architectures that tell us about decay, transitions and becoming – the previous events of the Hallo: Festspiele anniversary edition, the ‘Salon und Filmraum in der Schule am Bullenhuser Damm’ as part of the 80th Week of Holocaust Remembrance, as well as the ‘Alleycat’ by and with the contested locations of AG Ost were also organized under this star.
*Ten years ago, a back then nameless group entered the grounds of Kraftwerk Bille for the first time to open the previously largely empty building complex for artistic and cultural practice. At that time, it could only be guessed that this building complex would be taken over by investors of orthodox neoliberal denomination in order to let it rot as a vacant speculative object (under the pretext of developing a private clinic, an art mall, etc.).

Hello: Festival 10 – DEW DRIP TEMPER
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Hallo: Festival with us! On July 25 and 26, 2025.
There will be music, dancing, food and drink. We want to celebrate together, exchange ideas and reflect on our community.
The festival takes place outside in the Alster-Bille-Elbe-Park in summer – at the container of the artist collective ZOLLO.
The Bille power station is nearby. Hallo* was founded there and many celebrations and projects took place there. But since we had to leave in 2022, we’ve learned that our true “power station” is the community. Since then, we have continued to move around the east of Hamburg and have opened a “kiosk” and a “hotel” on Bullerdeich, for example.
In 2025, we want to explore new spaces – without fixed walls, open to change and new ideas.
The motto is: DEW – DRIP – TEMPER
These words describe different states – how communities change, work and grow.
There are many artistic offerings during the festival weekend:
Music, workshops, healing offers, readings, performances and much more.
Some highlights:
- Sophie Allerding and Paula Erstmann open the festival with a festive ceremony.
- Sara Yaoska Herrera Dixon’s workshop is about using clay and the body to think about earth and memories.
- Violaine Le Fur offers quiet rooms in which to relax.
- Karolina Kaiser and Lola Bott invite you to knit together – as art and a get-together.
- Jen Rosenblit & Simone Aughterlony present a play about decay and change.
- Meryem Choukri, Lalitha Chamakalayil, Susan Djahangard and Mawuto Doutou talk about the book “Biting Back”, which links food, resistance and colonialism.
- Razi Uddin shows a video about food and memories in the diaspora.
There is an accompanying zine entitled “Grappling With What Is”, which deals with queer communities.
There is also music – quiet, loud, wild, angry – everything is welcome!
Among them are: Valentina Magaletti, Lionstorm, Lolina, Devon Rexi, Ojoo, Yves B. Golden, douniah, Slezga, der Feine Schliv, Hye-Eun Kim, Seminice, CHO ROOM and many more.
Previous events in the anniversary series were:
– The movie night at the school on Bullenhuser Damm for the Week of Remembrance
– The “Alleycat” tour with places in the east of Hamburg that are fighting for something
